Dust Extractor; How it Cleans Air
A dust extractor is used to clean air by getting rid of foreign particles. Some of the foreign particles the extractor can get rid of include macro and micro particles and dust. It is important to have one especially if you suffer from allergies. Dust is one of the leading pollutants especially in an area that has mining and industrial facilities. Dust pollution can affect vision and the general health of an individual. Machines can also stall if too much dust accumulates in them. Three main processes are involved in dust extraction.
The first step is to make particles humid using a liquid. This helps to increase the mass and size of the dust particles. When the particles are bigger, it is easy to clean them up. When they come into contact with the liquid, the particles get attached.
A dust extractor has three inertial separators in it including baffle chambers, centrifugal chambers and settling chambers. A settling chamber is usually a large box that is attached to the duct. When dust particles enter into the box, there is a reduction in velocity because the duct expands in size and the particles settle down.
A baffle chamber has a plate which changes the direction of the gas steams to make sure the big dust particles are left inside the duct. Gas is passed through the system to clean the air and the collected particles form a cake which has to be cleared regularly to make it easy for gas to flow.
One of the main reasons why a dust extractor is used especially in industries is because it does not require supervision in order to function. It also uses very little power to function therefore it offers a cost effective way of cleaning the air.
A dust extractor will help to reduce wear and tear on equipment. The accumulation of dust especially on items made of metal results in corrosion.
